I prefer any of the versions in 87. Garcia is confident and he clearly likes the tune at this point.

Your welcome. I've always been surprised that I've never heard any mention of that version when this tune is discussed. It really is perfectly executed. That '88 version is very nice as well.

That '88 shows a nice evolution of the vocal blend and I like the way the band supports... but Brent's synth lines didn't do it for me. I like how Jerry powers through the '87 with his finger-picked country funk, staying in command of the band on this beautiful ballad. Really enjoyed playing both this afternoon - this song used to be a real downer for me but I guess I finally hit a point in my life where I can relate to the beauty/pain expressed and be uplifted. Ah, Garcia/Hunter!
